Calabogie Country Music Festival

The update came a day after it was initially expected but at least it came and, I think I can say with a fair amount of certainty, it did not disappoint as the event added Brea Lawrenson and Michelle Wright to the lineup which already includes Small Town Pistols and Ambush.

Brea Lawrenson

The first act that was announced was Brea Lawrenson.  Brea is hugely popular this year thanks, in part, to her two radio singles “Honey” and “With You Whiskey”.  We’ve been predicting for a while that Brea would be a familiar face on the summer festival scene this summer and our prediction is starting to come true as yet another festival has her gracing their stage.  Brea has been part of the music scene in the National Capital region for sometime but really hit her stride late last summer and has been gaining momentum ever since.  With another single expected to be released this month and a new album in the works one thing is clear we haven’t heard the last from Brea Lawrenson.

Brea is already on the bill for several upcoming events including Save A Horse Ride A Wish, a Children’s Wish charity event taking place March 20 at Greenfields Pub and Eatery in Barrhaven.  Brea is headlining the event along with fellow Carleton Place alum Jordan McIntosh.  You can also catch Brea in late July at the Spencerville Stampede in Spencerville, Ontario.

Brea was one of the first artists we featured back in January and we are looking forward to watching her continued success.

Michelle Wright

The second act announced today, Michelle Wright, is one of the most widely recognized and awarded female country singers from Canada. She has been inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame, and has landed herself in the Top 40 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts.  In 2011, Wright was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame at a special gala dinner and award ceremony in Hamilton, Ontario. Wright, the year’s artist inductee, was recognized for her outstanding contributions to Canada’s country music landscape. Wright will be acknowledged within the collections of the National Music Centre, which is to be opened in Calgary, Alberta in 2014.  Michelle is currently promoting her newest album ‘Strong‘ which is available now. Michelle Wright will hit the stage in Calabogie at 6pm on Sunday, June 29th.

The 2014 Calabogie Country Music Festival takes place at the Calabogie Peaks Resort in Calabogie, Ontario June 27-29, 2014. For more information and tickets visit www.calabogiecountry.com.
