Cadbury Freddo Treasures Box Review

By Kev A @kevvieguy

Sorry I've been a little quiet on the blogging front over Christmas...too much festivities (and a touch of snackspotting - check out my Instagram for the latest finds!) has been going on! But I'm back again for another Year - Happy 2019 everyone!

In true fashion the food companies have all the new Easter snacks in shops already, and I'll be featuring many of them over the coming weeks but let's start off with a rather interesting new product from Cadbury - Freddo Treasures! This is a similar idea to Kinder Surprise, but unfortunately with a lot more packaging. When I posted the pic of this on Instagram there were a ton of comments about the unnecessary extra plastic in it - it seems like Cadbury overlooked the " less plastic movement" that is gaining pace this January.

Overlooking the packaging, you can find these new treats in Asda stores for 65p near the tills. I was super excited to find them over the weekend!

They give you a chance to discover a surprise toy...plus a code to scan for an app. I didn't choose this option but I'll check it out in due time!

My surprise toy was a cool Freddo figure. Maybe not much of a true surprise since the theme is Freddo...but at least it's not a unicorn! (oh god - they'll probably be one of the other surprise toys won't they?)

I must admit this has made me want to go and buy another pack to see what other toys there are - gotta catch 'em all, as the Pokémon tagline goes!

What surprised me was that the chocolate contained in the pack is Cadbury Buttons - WTF? Where's the Freddo bar, or at least Freddo Faces?! I don't know if other packs contain them or not, but I'll certainly be investigating to find out.

Edit: here's "Freddo's Friends" contained in the other packs: Skye, Moo, Oz, Jo, Raz, Jet & Padi. No Unicorn - hurrah!

Well, there you have it - a new take on the Kinder Surprise concept, with extra packaging to boot. Hope everyone's had a great Christmas and not undergoing any punishing January diets. Don't follow my Instagram page if you are - there's too many cool new treats out! (although some are healthy-ish, at least!)

What are your thoughts on this product - fun idea? Too much plastic? Let me know in the comments!
