So it’s done – 72 hours of blogging related fun.
No, I didn’t do the full 72 hours, in total I did about 9 hours, which, for what I had to do was more than enough for me.
I didn’t really take part in the mini-challenges – mainly because I wasn’t sure where they were being posted (not that I asked) – I saw ONE on the facebook page (to clean up my sidebar) but that would have taken more than 72 hours for me to do with all I have to do it with – plus that will be happening in my blog makeover within the next month or so.
So what did I do? I did some of the background prep-work for said blog makeover.
First, I got the monotonous setting up of scheduled tweets out of the way for a few of the guest posters I have who will be featured in early April and for my giveaways that are happening right now.
Then, I went into the deep recesses of the blog page and erased all my categories for every single one of the posts.
Then, I went and created new categories so that I can create menus for easier navigation (just for you!)
And finally, I’m in the process of re-categorizing EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY POSTS. That’s a little over 325 posts (since I’ve deleted some obsolete ones) that I have to manually go into individually and retag and recategorize. Yes, that’s what I’ve been doing for the majority of my time spent online unless someone who was also sitting and looking for a procrastination reason from blogathon2 started talking to me on Twitter. I also started converting all my outgoing links to “nofollow” links.
Yes I realize that half of you have no clue what I’m talking about. Let’s put it this way – I got stuff done that has been waiting in the wings for a long time. I haven’t finished it completely, but I put a big dent into it.
Yes, I consider my journey successful, I’ve gotten through probably a little over 100 posts thus far (phew) and have also realized that I’m missing a lot of photos from my earliest posts…and I even found a guest post that I had done for another blog that I reposted for you (that was then promptly plaigarised by another blog…anyhoo…learning experience).
What do I still have to do? Well my list is long, but the first few things would be to finish categorizing the blogs and then to create the new menus for easier navigation on the blog. The I have to redo my about me page and then I think I’ will go back into my blogs and try to replace the missing photos.
Not to worry, I have lots to do after that too including cleaning up my Twitter by making lists and getting rid of obsolete followers, come up with new and interesting topics for you, find a new blog theme to make my sidebars into a more logical order…..and…..the list is never-ending with bloggers.
So this session is officially done and the next Biannual Blogathon will be held on June 15 – 17, 2012, so if you missed this one and want to join in as a group of bloggers spend 72 hours forcing themselves to catch up, feel free
Cheers!
