The Police Special Task Force Intelligence Division arrested a businessman carrying a pistol who stormed into a house in Hendala and threatened residents at gunpoint over a financial dispute.
It has been revealed after examination of the firearm that it was a plastic pistol similar to a real firearm. During the inquiries, it has been revealed that the businessman had purchased it online for Rs.12,000.
Investigations have revealed that he was in the habit of scaring people by showing this pistol.
This businessman who had arrived at the house in a jeep is a resident of Ja-Ela. Police said that he had threatened the residents over a financial dispute of Rs.3 million
The suspect has been identified after scrutinizing the CCTV footages of the adjacent houses and he has been arrested at a restaurant on Beach road in Wattala.
