Burlington’s Sound of Music Festival – Andrew Hyatt, Tebey, Young Empires and Hollerado

Saturday June 20th

This year Burlington’s Sound of Music Festival turned 36! This was our first time attending the festival but, it won’t be the last. The nine day schedule kicked off on June 13th with the only paid concert, which helps to supplement the sponsors (including KX94.7 and Indie88) and suppliers. The line up included Our Lady Peace, Collective Soul, Finger Eleven, Current Swell, Scott Helman, with Weezer as the headliner! All other music, all weekend long is free!

Our first stop was Andrew Hyatt at the OLG Stage. This Sudbury raised singer/song writer Andrew put on a great performance and had the crowd singing and dancing along to his hit single “Love Drunk”.

On stage next was Burlington’s own Tebey. The 2012 winner of Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist competition, Tebey has taken country music by storm. It had been thirteen years since he left Burlington and yesterday he was welcomed back with open arms. The hometown star shone on stage.

We quickly headed to the Burlington Hyundai Stage to catch Young Empires. We missed our pit access but got some interesting shots from the crowd. Loved their energy and enthusiasm. They played all of our favourites. They were fun and while BSOMF was the last stop on their tour, we hope to see them again soon.

Headliners for the Burlington Hyundai Stage, Hollerado killed it. It couldn’t have been any more perfect. They played everyone’s favorite songs, sounded amazing, had great lighting and the audience responded with bouncing, dancing, cheering, singing and crowd surfing. Perfect!

The festival boasts attendance numbers of 200,000 and they engage the community through music and volunteerism. Let’s not forget this event couldn’t happen without the great crew of volunteers and sponsors. The atmosphere is busy, fun and there’s live music, everywhere.

There’s still time to check out the last day of this festival. Sunday’s headliners include Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Say Yes, The Harpoonist & The Axe Murderer, and Loverboy.
