Burlap Canvas Picture Holder #MPinterestParty

Posted on the 12 February 2014 by Youngandcraftysisters

I was so excited to hit up Michaels and shop for the Pinterest Party on Sunday. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, check out the post HERE. I will be hosting the party at Michaels in Shreveport, LA on 2/16/14 from 1-4 (7440 Youree Drive, Shreveport, LA 71105). So if you are in the area, come on by! I’ll be showing you how I made this burlap canvas picture holder. If you want to make something else then feel free! I would love to meet some of you!
The first 24 people to show up will get these cute chalkboard cards! I will be making an extra one of these burlap picture holders so be on the lookout for a giveaway soon. Brittany will also be giving away what she made too. Check out her project HERE.
This party is being put on by Michaels and Hometalk.

For those of you who live to far away, here is a tutorial.

All of these supplies can be found at your local Michaels.
Burlap canvas, wooden cutout picture frame, mini clothespins, E6000 glue, Martha Stewart painters tape, black acrylic paint, and a roll of burlap.

I took a ruler and marked my lines on each side of the canvas. This just helps you line up the tape on each side. I wanted thicker stripes so I marked them about 1 1/2 inch apart. The last stripe was a little bigger but hey, who’s looking that close?

I made sure to mark inside the pencil marks because they wouldn’t erase and I wanted to paint over them.

To have the crispest stripes I always use this trick. Take some mod podge and go along all the edges. The mod podge dries clear and seeps in where paint would.

I used a very stiff brush to paint on the black. The burlap soaks up a good bit of paint so the stiffer brush helped. See how crisp those lines are?! I only had one spot where it bled a little to much. Dang it.

I painted the frame a very pale cream that I had on hand. There are about a gazillion rolled flower tutorials on the internet so I don’t have a tutorial for that. I used the E6000 glue to attach the frame and mini clothespin.

I think it turned out so cute! I love that you can easily change the picture out.
Don’t forget that if you want a LIVE in person tutorial, come to the Michaels in Shreveport on Sunday, 2/16/14 from 1-4!
