This is the horrific moment a Spanish bullfighter had his face ripped open by a 107-stone beast.
The animal’s horn struck matador Juan José Padilla in the face and tore through from his lower jaw to his eye-socket – emerging beside his protruding eyeball.
More than 20,000 spectators watched in disbelief and horror as the bull picked him up by the face.
Juan José Padilla had slipped, leaving him at the mercy of the beast in the bullring at Zaragoza, Spain.
He was carried from the ring with his face covered in blood shouting: “I can’t see, I can’t see anything at all.”
Matador Padilla, 39, needed a five-hour op after suffering eye, bone, muscle and skin damage.
Doctors Simon Sanz and Nadal Cristobal said surgeons used titanium plates and mesh to reconstruct his face.
The accident happened in the city of Zaragoza at one of the final bull festivals of the season in Spain.
Footage from Spanish TV showed Padilla getting up from the ring, his face gushing with blood as the enormous bull was distracted by bullring assistants.
Bullfighting has been banned in Catalonia from next year as a result of increasing pressure from animal rights activists and it is scenes like this that adds to their cause.
