Bristol Palin

Bristol Palin was at the Saddle Ranch Chop House in West Hollywood filming for an upcoming reality show when a man at the bar began shouting very strong opinions about her mother (Sarah Palin).  She approached the less than gentlemanly patron and demanded to know the basis for his statements.  When he could not offer any concrete reasons why he thought her mother was the “devil” and a “whore,” she decided to probe him for the truth by asking, “Is it because you’re a homosexual?”

His response was, “Pretty much.”

Bristol’s rep issued this statement to TMZ:

[She] “was approached in a confrontational and inappropriate manner when two men aggressively shouted expletives aimed at her in reference to her mother. Bristol responded to the unprovoked verbal assault by calmly standing her ground and defending her family … The situation ended with no incident, and accusing her of homophobia is completely unfounded and totally misstates her views.”

Whether or not Bristol truly is homophobic will probably be a never-ending debate.  However in this particular situation, one would have to take into consideration how frustrating it would be to have someone verbally attack their mother in such an aggressive and confrontational way.

Was her statement anti-gay, or did she have a hunch that this guy had a gay chip on his shoulder?
