Bringing in the Autumn to My Home

By Cleverbuttons @cleverbuttons

Hi All,

I am so glad that autumn is finally here, it is possibly my favorite time of yeah – well when the weather is sunny and not raining. It means that I can pack up my summer clothes and look forward to some big, baggy jumpers, cosy socks and of course a bobble hat. It also gives me the perfect excuse to bring my love of autumnal colours and fashion into my home; from the art on my walls through to a new sofa, which is desperately needed. Here are some of my top picks for this autumn.

The Sofa

My sofas are old and tatty, it’s true they no longer look or feel particularly comfortable, so I have started dreaming and looking for new ones.  I don’t know about you guys, but for me I am looking for something that screams HOME, comfortable, durable and most of all vintage in its design. It has got to withstand many different functions; from the long nights of me cosying up with a book and a cup of cocoa all the way through to tough times. It is where we rest and reflect after a hard day and I hate to admit it, but it is where I eat as I don’t have a dining table.

This sofa is simply perfect! Is there any more to be said? It is stylish and made from leather which is always a plus as it is comfortable and functional. Most of all though, it reminds me of a country cottage living room. I can imagine draping blankets and cushions on this, so that when the hillier nights come I can wrap myself up, with a good romantic comedy and a mug of tea!

The bed Linen

I am a fan of floral everything, which by now you will have already figured out. In the summer months I opt for Cath Kidston or similar style bed covers and pillows – lots of pillows. For me though, this doesn’t scream warmth and as someone that feels the cold, I want something that not just looks inviting, but that offers me an escape from the chill. I know most people will be looking towards orange, red and brown hues in autumn, but I am slightly different, I find the combination of greens and browns perfect for my autumnal home. A celebration of the greener months blending with the winter and it is down to this that I have chosen this bed linen for 2013.

It is simple and makes a change from my ditsy prints that I normally opt for, but it is also has an air of warmth to it. Rather like a painting from the Deco period, it looks stylish and smart.

The Coat Rack

I have often considered buying a coat rack, firstly because we live in a rain prone country and secondly because they are very cute. Well it is the time of year again when my coats and jackets come out to play. It is because of this that my living room is beginning to look like a coat shop, with them hanging all over the place, not to mention the umbrellas that I never seem to be able to find. By having a vintage inspired coat rack, I could keep everything neat, tidy and never lose an umbrella again! This one for example is divine; it combines that vintage feel with a functionality that I am looking for – most of all it will look great with my Joules jacket hanging on it!

I order to have the perfect autumnal home, I am also going to have to redecorate, for which I will keep you all posted on my progress. I mean this coat rack will get lost at the moment! I am obsessed with the woodland printed wallpaper at the moment, which would tie I the rack and the sof with ease = nice.
