Bring on the Rain

By Jenny Mac Rogers @jennymac1207

So there's been one big question everyone at my house has been asking me lately. "When are you going to post on your blog again?"
It's been a minute, so to speak. I've been blogging this month over at Mississippi Women Bloggers. We've also had a particularly busy March around the Rogers house. At the moment, among other things, we are consumed with the two big "B's" in our lives.
Ballet and baseball.
Sissy is in the studio two nights a week, studying classical ballet and they are currently in final preparations for the big recital of the year. It seems the hour and fifteen minute sessions are getting longer each week. I'm not complaining, mind you…she is loving every minute and has learned so much this year. (Parents aren't allowed in the lesson room, so I don't have pictures of her in action. Yet. Stay tuned.)
BB is playing Dixie Youth baseball, and hubs is helping coach. Once again, this year, we are Diamondbacks. And I am the proud mother of the catcher.

This year, it seems that very often, her ballet and his baseball fall on the same weeknight, which necessitates a "divide and conquer" strategy. Hubs takes him to the baseball field, and I get her to the ballet studio. This is complicated by the fact that, because it takes me about 40 minutes to get home from work (in a nearby town) every day, if the game/practice happen to be early evening or late afternoon, hubs has to do some maneuvering to get everyone where they need to be until I get back to town. Thankfully, we have a solid network of family and friends to support us. Seriously, it really does take a village, y'all.
With all this running around, it's easy to lose sight of why we are doing all these things. But Sissy said something the other night that made it all worth it.
Ballet practice ran a little later than usual, probably because their recital costumes had just arrived and there was much to-do and oohs and aaahs over those. (So stinkin' cute.) When I picked her up, I said, "You know, if we went to the ball field now, by the time we arrived, there would only be about ten minutes left in BB's game, and plus it's raining. Do you really want to go?"
"Well, of course."
Well, of course. Three words that brought it all home
Because that's what we do. We support each other. When we're tired. When it's not convenient. When there's not much to see.
When the rain is coming down.
As I told someone today, right now, our little family is smack dab in the middle of a lot of "life." It's hectic, it's busy, it can be stressful, and sometimes, it's even scary.
It's ok, though, because we will do it together, as best we can.
Bring on the rain. We are not afraid.
