Brightest Hour by The Submarines.

Today’s entry is brought to you by request! I hadn’t heard of The Submarines so I went on iTunes and came across this song which has a nice & peaceful vibe to it. I couldn’t find a live video of good enough quality so I settled on one featuring the lyrics.

The Submarines, natives of Los Angeles, are an indie-pop band that started releasing music in 2006. The band consists of John Dragonetti, Blake Hazard, and two touring members: Jason Stare and Scott Barber. Brightest Hour came from their second album, Honeysuckle Weeks, which was released in April of 2008. Another track from the album, Xavia, was featured on the soundtrack for Nick & Nora’s Infinite Playlist starring Michael Cera and Kat Dennings.

If I had to give my interpretation of the song, I could describe the lyrics in two different ways. One way makes me obviously think of a love song, a person waiting to see someone again. Once they do, everything in the world is pefect around them. The other way I see it is somewhat reflected from the recent death of Whitney Houston. Whitney was very devoted to God and this song also makes me think of someone going to Heaven. People have always described a bright light which takes them closer and closer to Heaven’s gates. Brighest Hour, here with you.

Take a listen & comment what you think. You’ll have to hit play & then the link provided.
