Plot: After a particularly harsh winter Brian goes into a deep depression; completely isolated and with no one to talk to, Brian does what any sane person would do when faced with such a melancholic situation. He builds a robot.

Story: Brian and Charles starts when a lonely inventor Brian (Earl) decides to build a robot. He believes it is another failed invention until he returns home to see it wandering around. Brian decides to let the robot pick a name, Charles and he starts teaching him about life.

However, when a bully neighbor Eddie (Michie) sees Charles, he has his own ideas for the robot. This sees Brian needing to step up to the challenge from the aggressive neighbor to save his robot.

Verdict on Brian and Charles

Brian and Charles is a comedy following the lonely inventor that creates a friend. It makes no sense how the robot works, but the pair become best friends and look to make the most of life. This is until people try to step into their lives to change everything they have created.

The movie is a unique charming comedy filled with joy. This movie doesn’t try to explain how Charles works and that adds to the joy. It is the pure acceptance of having someone new in somebody’s life that keeps it feeling fresh. The delightful nature and simple idea keep this movie leaving you with a feel-good movie.
