Story: Breathe starts in a world depleted of oxygen. Darius (Common), Maya (Hudson) and their daughter Zora (Wallis) live in a bunker in Brooklyn. However, one day, Darius goes missing, leaving Maya and Zora without any answers. The pair do what they can to survive, as Maya has developed a way to make enough oxygen to survive and has been preparing Zora for the future.
However, the two meet two strangers Tess (Jovovich) and Lucas (Worthington) who claim to be from a survivor’s camp. It leaves Maya and Zora with a difficult decision to survive or help others.
Verdict on Breathe
Breathe is an action sci-fi thriller following a family trying to survive the end of the world. They have found a way to survive by producing their own oxygen, but when a rival gang discovers them, they must fight to survive.
This movie has the same feeling as David Fincher’s Panic Room, only in a post-apocalyptic world. The idea of following a mother-daughter trying to survive intruders proves what they are facing. It tends to go the way you would expect, and it does feel strange seeing certain actors in certain roles within this movie. In the end, everything goes down to what would happen at the end of the world and the ever-rising tensions between survivors not knowing who to trust.
