Two people have locked down to a car in the path of the megaload just outside of John Day, Oregon.

Today’s blockade marks the third blockade along the megaload’s scheduled path out of Oregon—a path that will take it through Idaho, Montana, and eventually into the Alberta tar sands.

On December 2, the megaload was stalled when two activists locked themselves to the megaload itself. The next night, a group of people from Rising Tide, as well as the Umatilla and Warm Springs tribes, formed a soft, human blockade of the megaload, but were swept aside by police using excessive force.

Other allied groups working to stop the megaload include All Against the Haul and the Cascadia Forest Defenders.

The megaload’s progress has also been stalled by inclement weather, but it has managed to reach John Day by violating numerous safety protocols (observed by activists who have monitored its moves).

We will keep you updated with photos and video of the current blockade as developments occur.
