Bread Srsly Gluten Free Sour Dough | Product Review

By Calvin Eaton @glutenfreechef5

I can’t quite remember how I stumbled upon Bread Srsly. It may have been during a late night food gawking session or during one of my mindless scrollings through my newsfeed; either way I found it and I am so glad I did.

For those who don’t know, Bread Srsly is a San Fransisco based gluten free bread company founded by the A+mazing Sadie Scheffer. Sadie founded the company in late 2011 after years of experimenting with gluten free baking recipes while in college.  Initially her experimentation was for someone else but she soon learned that she was gluten intolerant herself. The rest as they say is history. Fast forward to now and Bread Srsly bakes and ships from scratch loaves of wonderful gluten free sour dough bread loaves and buns all over the country.

That’s right, your eyes do not deceive you. Gluten free sour dough. Just typing these words together in a sentence give me thrills and chills. I mean we all know how hard it is to find and learn to bake edible gluten free bread let alone be able to eat a sour dough loaf. I’m not quite sure how she did it but Sadie and her bakery produces a phenomenal loaf of sour dough bread. And make no mistake this is REAL BREAD. Fresh bread. Bread that is so fresh that when I got my batch of loaves I could still smell the ingredients and taste the oven they were baked in.

The first hing that struck me about my slice of bread was how fresh, soft, and light the center was. Then to have this perfectly chewy crust; I was in bread heaven. This bread is baked with love and lots of clean, whole, real ingredients. No fillers. No preservatives. No artificial junk.

I am over the moon about finding this bread. Being gluten free takes away a lot so when I find small entrepreneurs doing awesome things in the gluten free community I have to reach out and support. Sadie is serious about her gluten free sour dough and this sour dough is seriously amazing. Actually it’s more than amazing. It is an art form. One of the seven food wonders of the world.
