The Brauerei Päffgen is a large joint but with limited seating for drinkers who are only after trying a glass of kölsch. When I visited it was almost empty and I got a seat at the bar. All was going well until I paid the bill. The barman remarked that it was the exact money that I had given him and that German waiters can also accept tips. I’m always happy to tip for good service, even on a small bill, but I don’t tip for a crappy attitude.
