Boyd Shropshire’s “Valentine” summons us to sit, laze, listen and do nothing else. Its melancholic tones have a soothing way of washing over us and leaving us warmer than when the song began. Dubbed appropriately as dream-folk, “Valentine” sets us free and nudges us into both real and imagined in-between spaces. Earthy yet ethereal, Shropshire’s mollifying vocals are a welcome addition to the feverishly hot days of summertime.

Shropshire’s second album finds him reflecting on “impermanence, love and a constantly changing world” along with “a bittersweet urgency to genuinely engage with the world before it’s too late…a patient desire to implement purpose as opposed to wandering around for it.” These sentiments wrapped in an analog blanket make Victory Weather a release to anticipate holding in our hands, seeing as it will be released on cassette including five panels of artwork and an additional track.
