I don’t do a lot of organized reading events, mainly because I read plenty without forcing myself, which seems to take the fun out of it. But this week I’m going to give Bout of Books a try. It’s a low-pressure read-a-thon where I basically do what I would have done anyway – read! So it feels like a fun way to get back into the social part of blogging. I still have a busy work week ahead, so we’ll see what I’m able to do. My goals are small: if I can get a few posts or tweets in this week, I will.
Interested in joining? Here’s more about it:
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 9th and runs through Sunday, May 15th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 16 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team
What am I planning to read?
- Finish Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon. So, so good.
- Finish Company Town by Madeline Ashby, a book I just got from Tor and NetGalley.
- Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (I loved Americanah; this a library book so has to be read next)
- Rush Oh! by Shirley Barrett (a Baileys longlist nominee and I’ve heard great things)
That should be plenty of reading for a week. If I get through those I’ll add either Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie or The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin. Anyone read either of these?
Happy reading everyone!
