From CBS: ”At Boston City Hall the licensing board will decide this week whether there should be sanctions against three pizza places that were cited for staying open too late. Boston Police say on separate occasions, they found University House of Pizza on Huntington Avenue open 90 minutes after its 1 a.m. close time. Papa John’s on Washington Street stayed open 30 minutes past its 1 a.m. close time and Domino’s on Washington Street is licensed to close at 11 p.m. but police found it open at almost 2 a.m.”
Is this really something that Boston City Hall should be discussing right now? Pizza joints staying open late is a pressing issue? What’s the issue with a few joints staying open late to help out those who stayed out past their bedtime? I’ll be honest with you, there is nothing better than late night pizza, absolutely nothing. After going hard at the bar, there is nothing I want more than to smash some pizza. These guys were just trying to help out those that are in the same boat. Sure they may make a few extra bucks, but it’s not like they’re making a ton of extra money, right? They still have to have the lights and ovens on and they still have to pay their employees. So what’s the big deal?
I’m sure there’s some law their breaking but if you don’t think every weekend there are a bunch of people who decide to smash at a pizza spot rather than jump in their car and drive home drunk, you’re out of your mind. An hour eating Domino’s at a friend’s house is better than jumping in the whip all crunked up and leaving it to chance. Smack these guys with a small fine and let them keep selling pizza late night. This is straight weaksauce by these officials.
Best quote from the article comes at the end: “Restaurants, bars, it’s something we see across the board from licensees, even fortune tellers,” board chair Nicole Ferrer said.
Low blow to the fortune tellers at the end. Not cool Nicole, not cool.
