red patent leather Valentino boots
“These boots are mad for walking …“
…this is what Nancy Sinatra sang in 1966 and referred to the idea that she would have walked on anything or anyone if they had treated her badly.
Well let’s say that the metaphor is a bit extreme, but we perfectly know that with “the right pair of shoes, a woman can conquer the world” (cit. MM).
But, what about boot? Boots are not just another pair of shoes; they are a separate category.
Certainly not as elegant as a pair of decollete, able to slender almost any kind of leg and ankle.
Neither as classic as lace-ups shoes (stringate) that immediately give you the allure of an English dandy; nor as urban and metropolitan like ankle boots.
Boots are a special case study, and every time, during the sales period, I enter in the paranoyd to look for the perfect pair, still missing in my closet.
I don’t know what you think about it, but finding the right pair of boots is not at all an easy thing.
Slipping into the excess that becomes vulgar is pretty simple, especially if you are looking something to wear with mini or shorts for events and fashion shows.
Choosing the perfect combination of elegance, glamour and trendy appeal could be a tricky game.I’ve some rules fixed in my mind:1. they should be strictly made of leather.
2. If you are going for the heeled ones, they should have a squared heel, not spiked.
3. The point should be rounded and all of the stitches and zippers should be of the same color of the body.
My favorite models are the ones over the knee and espexially the heeled version is very difficult to find.
Browsing on mytheresa website I’ve found two models I fell in love with.
The Lanvin’s one, made of clear suede, stroke me for the linear cut and the slight curl at the knee. But the second one, Valentino’s (above photos), took my heart becouse of its simplicity that is once again attention to detail and the perfect shape.
You can easily see that these boots have been showed on fashion shows and now they are in my mind and in my wishlists. Are they falling into my cart?!? Don’t know yet!
And what about you, are you a some kind of boots girl???
