Jesi was a perfect girlfriend material. She was sweet, sexy, beautiful, successful, rich. Kaya nga laking pagtataka niya kung bakit naunahan pa siya ng mga walang-pakialam-sa-lalaking kaibigan niya. Kasal na ang isa at magpapakasal na ang isa pa. Samantalang siya, ni boyfriend ay wala.

She started asking herself.

Baliktad yata!

Review

I’ve had this novella in my shelf for quite a while now. I’ve read book 1 and book 2 already and I enjoyed both of them. I’m having a bit of a busy week so this one is absolutely a perfect read when I want to be somewhere else for a while (if you get what I mean? hehe).

Wandering Heart is a story of Jessica who’s been frustrated  about being single. Both of her friends are now having their happy ending and she’s still there, alone. Considering that out of the three, she’s the one who’s eager to find the man for her. She’s pretty, smart, nice and rich so guys should be there lining up to get her attention, but unfortunately, she doesn’t have even one guy pursuing her.

Out of the three friends (thus it’s a Trilogy), Vida from book 1 and Dani from book 2, I wasn’t really that impressed with Jessica. She’s the exact opposite of me, very fashionable and even if I like cute guys, I’m not like her who chases after them, what an amusing first impression eh? I was already expecting that it would be hard to relate with her in this story but I was wrong. Ofcourse we’re still the exact opposite but I kinda understand her character now. You know that feeling when people think of you differently just because of how you look? They always say “don’t judge the book by its cover” but most of us just can’t help it, we always look on the outside rather than what’s on the inside. Btw, the main characters suffers from it so I guess that’s why they’re perfect for each other. Both of them judges each other based on their physical appearance but atleast in the end, they were able to settle it and that’s how HEA came in.

You see, Jessica is a physical definition of vogue or whatever fashion magazine you know of; she’s fashionable, plus she also works in a fashion magazine, so that explains why she’s so kikay. While the guy (I refuse to say his name) on the other hand is a total nerd, well, actually he’s a total geek. He’s working as a game developer and just like the rest, he looks like a hacker lol. He’s a slob and he seldom go out, he’s like a hermit, or hikikomori in Japanese term. And because of that, he’s definitely not her type. But as they say, opposites attract.

What I always like about Sonia Francesca  is that her story won’t fail you. I also love the fact that my favorite twins in the whole wide world did an appearance in this novella. Thinking about that, I just realized that this Trilogy is like a spin-off of the author’s Rancho Estate series.

Wandering Heart is just a very short read but I was really entertained and there was no questions left unanswered. Just like the rest, this story has some flaws like being corny and a bit cliché but that’s not new in Tagalog romance. Plus, I just can’t take for granted how this story made me laugh while at the same time made me fall in love considering that the main lead has the same name with our dog, lol. And speaking of our dog, I was really laughing my heart out when I first found out about the hero’s name, and I’ve been teasing our little troublemaker all throughout the story. I am even planning to let him wear glasses lol, so he can really live up as the main character of this novella, haha.

Ok, serious this time, hehe. It may not have been the author’s best books (Trigger’s story will always be my favorite because that’s our story ayeeii) but I really think it deserves my four stars rating. I guess this time I have to see pass the flaws and just follow my instincts and the effect this story had on me.

It’s the third and final book of the Cape’s Corner Trilogy but it can be read standalone as every book in the series are from different couples.

Favorite Quotes

Well, happiness is a choice. And love is a risk. The thing is, if you fall in love, you have to make all the necessary moves to make that elusive “happy ending” come true. May malaking possibility na i-reject ka ng taong ‘yon dahil hindi mo nga alam kung ano ang nararamdaman niya. Pero huwag mo namang ipaubaya ang lahat sa destiny. You have to work for it. Sa mga ganitong pagkakataon, hindi na uubra ang katwirang “if it’s meant to be, then it’s meant to be”. Haller! Bakit, kumilos ka na ba? May ginawa ka na ba? Puwede mo lang sabihin ‘yan kapag nagawa mo na ang lahat at hindi mo pa rin nakuha ang taong mahal mo. That’s the only time you give up. You’re the most amazing woman I’ve ever met. You can be the densest person in the world, but even that would never stop me from loving you. I love you, Jessica Alarcon.
