Sci-fi or fantasy? Either way, Walls of Wind provides an intriguing story world to visit.
Summary: Part 1 of Walls of Wind, a serially-published story, establishes an unusual and appealing world with two sentient species that can barely communicate but are tied together by the reproductive requirements and shared threats on this planet.
Thoughts: I enjoyed the difficult but, ultimately, loving relationships that evolve in this world — between mating partners and between parent and child. The world came alive for me in all its strange flora and fauna through the interactions of these characters with their environment and each other.
It ended too soon, at a place where I very much want to know what happens with the threat that is introduced in the last chapter. Fortunately for me, Part II will be published on February 1st and Part III will be available on February 15th. Part 1 is available on Amazon, now.
If you prefer stories that are complete, the whole trilogy will be available in both print and Kindle format on March 1.
Appeal: This is advertised as science fiction, but I’m more of a fantasy reader and I enjoyed it on that level — as a world that operates differently from ours in fundamental ways and yet, somehow, the aliens portray what it means to be human in our complicated world.
