The Adversary by Erin M. Evans
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received a copy of the book through NetGalley in exchange for an unbiased and honest review.

The Adversary is part of The Sundering series and is the 3rd book. In this book, the story revolves around a tiefling named Farideh. She has a knack for getting into one kind of trouble after another although it is not because she is a trouble-maker. She simply likes to leap first and look later. She tries to do what appears to be the right thing at first without really considering all the risks.

She is always so protective of twin sister Havilar but she ends up getting herself into tough situations. To be honest, I feel rather sorry for her because her luck just seems to be ever so bad. And to simply make things a whole lot worse, she appears to be in love with a half-devil named Lorcan who is being pursued by his sister Sairche.

Faridey manages to get herself into a pact with Sairche in order to protect Havilar, her lover Brin, and Lorcan. The deal was that Fari and Havi would be protected for 27 years after which Fari needs to fulfill two tasks but then how can anyone ever trust a half-devil? The twins awake many years later alone and somewhere strange. Those they knew thought them to be dead, even their father Mehen.

They manage to find their old friend Dahl. However, Sairche comes to ask Fari to fulfill the first of two tasks. It meant she had to help a wizard named Adolican Rhand to complete some diabolical task. She is being used to find the Chosen. Fari also finds a ghost of a woman who appears only to her. Will her predicament ever turn out for the better?

Erin M. Evans does a great job with this book. There are so many twists and turns which make the book an exciting read. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
