Pinterest Savvy is great for people who have never used Pinterest before or for those who are currently using it but want to know how to use it better. The first few chapters are very basic, mostly for people who have never pinned before. However, I still found some advice I didn’t know, such as the importance of using keywords and hashtags in your pin descriptions. I also didn’t realize that you can manually arrange the order in which your boards appear! I just did it, and Melissa’s instructions worked beautifully.
But the really good stuff, especially in terms of helping your business, begins in chapter 5, “How to be awesome (and get more followers).” Melissa covers the importance of pinning high-quality photos, choosing content carefully, frequency of pinning, who to follow, sharing your profile, and more. I love how she gives examples of companies who “get it right” on Pinterest by successfully promoting themselves without being overly self-promotional. Advice from “top pinners” is also included.
If you’ve been wondering, “What’s the big deal about Pinterest?” or you’ve been intimidated at the thought of learning how to use Pinterest, I highly recommend Melissa Taylor’s Pinterest Savvy. It’s chock full of helpful advice, easy-to-follow instructions, and tips and techniques to help you get started and boost your business on Pinterest.
