Sypnosis:

Jamie Baker, the only girl in the world with superpowers, has now accepted who she is and learned to control her power. Not to mention she has the best boyfriend on the planet. Life is finally looking good. But the day she witnesses an accident and decides not to save the guy out of fear of being exposed, she realizes that simply being Jamie Baker isn’t enough.
After seeing Jamie so wrecked with guilt, the ever-helpful Ryan Miller decides it’s time to make all of his fantasies about turning his girlfriend into an honest-to-goodness superhero become a reality.

Of course, coming up with a decent Super Name and fending off all of Ryan’s attempts to get her into spandex aren’t the only problems Jamie faces. The more her alter ego starts to make headlines, the harder it becomes for Jamie to hide her extracurricular activities from her best friend, the government, radical scientists, and the mysterious new guy who is determined to steal her from her boyfriend.

Review:

I am going to review this book and assume that you read its first book eh? My emotion about this story is so intense that I’m afraid if I prolong and explain more, I’ll combust haha.

When I started reading this book, I have to admit that I was a bit of disappointed. Unlike the first book (which is actually one of my favorites from the author) this book started somewhat dull. I mean, I love the first book, so I really expected a lot on its second book. Too much for expecting eh? I guess I will never learn my lesson haha.

Just because I wasn’t that impressed on how this story started doesn’t mean that I didn’t appreciate the setting. I mean, I already had the hint that the setting would be in college, but what really interests me is the idea that Jamie’s living a normal life now, well, not physically normal but I was happy on what happened to her and Becky (they’re best friends now!) and of course, to her and Ryan. Oh gosh! How could he be so gorgeous and dedicated at the same time? He may have that booming self confidence, but at least he has the right to be eh? Imagine being a perfect individual inside and out? Omg! I am doing it again right? Haha, I’m sorry, I’m just so into him that I can’t help myself and just talk about him. I could do that forever ya know? Haha

Well, back to this story. I also appreciate that the author made this story readable even to those who haven’t read its first book, though I wouldn’t be recommending such thing. Kelly patiently explained about Jamie and what happened before, so you wouldn’t be confused when you read this story.

Normally, when I read a book, I always have a note with me. You know, I have this problem to gather my thoughts especially when I’m overwhelmed, so I always jot on my small note everything I like about the story that I am reading, even those that I hate. Compared to its first book, I only written few notes from this book. That may have a been a bad thing, but as I read the story, the action, suspense even the romance part overwhelmed me to the extent that I don’t know how to jot them in my notes, so I just let them be. And you know what? This story is just so depressing. Actually, I didn’t feel that until I reached the last part, and every time I think about it, I can’t help but be angry, as in extremely angry that I’m afraid I’ll turn into “Chelsey’s Angel” instead haha. But seriously, this story got into me and I really really need to have the third book. I want to settle it now or I’m going to lose my mind. I don’t want this review to be a complete bummer so I’m not going to mention it here, I want you to experience what I experienced so just read this book eh? Haha.

Since it wouldn’t be necessary for me to introduce its characters because I don’t want to be redundant, and I’m afraid I’ll just talk too much about Ryan, so I’ll just share to you how they are in this book.

So let’s start with Jamie, as mentioned above, this time, Jamie finally have control of her powers, she was even living in the same room with Becky! Yeah right? But when she is angry, irritated or overwhelmed (especially if she’s kissing Ryan) that’s when she went haywire, but not too much like before though. Her life was starting to be normal not until Mike was involved in an accident. As you all well know, Jamie hated Mike, but when he was hit by a car and was in comma, she felt guilty because she wasn’t able to help him. It made her feel that she was evil, and that’s when she started to become “Chelsea’s angel” or simply “angel” to those people she helped. Jamie is still a drama queen and keeps on being guilty because Ryan given up so much for her, it could get annoying sometimes but I still like her character and still think that she’s perfect for Ryan.

And speaking of Ryan, he’s still the same boy-next-door hottie even in college. A lot of girls are still falling for him, but I was really amazed on how much he loves Jamie. I also adore how he always do his best just for her. My love for him intensified in this story. I will accept that I can never have him, but I will never ever accept that he and Jamie will not have their happily ever after, I will really protest to that!

As I said above, this story didn’t got my attention when I’ve read its first chapter. This is a kind of book that when I said I need to go to bed because it’s already past my bedtime, then I can peacefully go to sleep without being haunted. But when I reached the juicy part, my oh my, I am unstoppable again. Good thing it’s not Friday, so I’m not that busy at work yet. And that said, I just basically ditched work, just so I could read this story. Haha, the perks of working online lol. Kelly’s story is really not good for my work ethics, but I still find my way reading her story even more. You can’t blame me, she’s really really good.

And speaking of good, this story is still composed of very easy to grasp words, I never recall I time that I consulted my dictionary for some meaning. This story is really good, the only thing about it that I didn’t like is when Teddy arrived. Grrr! I was never a fan of love triangle and this story is really full of it. I don’t really want to go there or I will lose myself and finally crack (which I think I’m already on the verge of it). But I don’t want to disappoint you guys, so if I could say one thing about him, is that he’s a great liar, and that made him a great actor. But in all fairness, this story still has that humor that will make you smile or even laugh.

I actually have a lot more to share but I’m afraid it will make this review a total bummer so I’ll just leave the rest of them for you to find out eh?

I would highly recommend that you read the first book, Being Jamie Baker, before pursuing this book. Don’t worry, you wouldn’t mind the pages when you started the story. You’ll absolutely finish it in just one sitting. Have fun reading the story *wink
