My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received a copy of the book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

This is a Downtown Abbey'esque story wherein Rose is a former housemaid that has been turned into Lady Rose Averley. Because of that things are not so easy for her. People still consider her as part of "downstairs." She gets stared at and talked about. And the servants are not so happy about the turn of events too. They are slow in obeying her and tend to have very little respect.

Her sister Ada is engaged to Laurence Fintan and the match is considered to be a good one as the Averley's are in deep financial trouble. The marriage will definitely change their fortunes. However, Ada misses Ravi who is a man that she has been very close to. But the relationship does not have a future and Ada accepts the fact that she will have to marry Laurence. Rose and Ada's sister, Charlotte is having problems. It is her third and final season and there has not been any proposal of marriage.

To make the season exciting, Ross Alexander is back in London and Charlotte has her eyes on him. Ross however has eyes on Rose.

The book is an interesting read as it provides clear views on the divide between "upstairs" and "downstairs." There are several subplots which are interesting also. However, the ending appears to be somewhat unbelievable though it is a nice story nonetheless.

A feel good historical romance with more romance than history with a happy ending which also paves the way for a sequel.
