Tonya Kappes has done another hit with her newest book, Chocolate Bunny Betrayal. This book is part of the Holiday Cozy Mystery series. Tonya Kappes is no stranger to cozy mysteries as she has a very popular cozy Mystery series, Camper & Criminals Cozy Mystery.
These Holiday Cozy Mysteries follow Violet Rhinehammer who is now living in a new town, Holiday Junction. We were first introduced to Violet in the Camper & Criminals Cozy Mystery series. It’s Easter time in Holiday Junction (they take their holidays very seriously here) and during the Hip Hop Hurray Easter Festival, there was a dead body found! Our main character, Violet, is on a mission to find out who is the person behind the murder. This book made me like Violet as a character and also made me like her maybe romantic love interest Darrin Strickland. I have to say I was chanting in my head “get together get together” whenever Darrin and Violet were on my pages.
The suspects are a bunch of people in bunny suits and I have to say my brain was for sure hopping around to who might be the killer. Most of the time I can figure out right away who the killer is but the way Tonya has written this book made me switch my answers until the very end. It is nice to read a cozy mystery that kept me guessing who could have done it. Makes me want to keep reading the book and that is what happened.
With the case, the characters are something I really enjoyed, and somehow made me think of Legally Blonde when I was reading the story. I could see Reese Witherspoon playing Violet if a movie or show was made based on the books.
Now you wouldn’t think that Chocolate Bunnies and a mystery would go together but Tonya Kappes made it go so well together you would think they always belong together. This book was hard to put down and I can’t wait to read it again. It is a five star cozy mystery for me and I’m sure you will think the same. Chocolate Bunny Betrayal will be released on March 23rd.
