Coffee with a Cozy Mystery? YES, PLEASE!! The new book from Tonya Kappes, ‘Cappuccino Criminal’, has the perfect blend of coffee with a cozy mystery to make sure you are caffeinated and ready to take a break from the crazy world.
‘Cappuccino Criminal’ is book 12 in the A Killer Coffee Mystery series that Tonya Kappes is writing. I’ve had this series on my TBR list for a while and picking up this book as my first one to read was a great choice.
There was just enough information on the background of the Characters that I wasn’t lost, and it made me want to start this series from the start. What I liked about this one is the characters are different from her Camper and Criminals series. It’s nice to see a whole different group of people start to solve this murder.
A Killer Coffee Mystery series takes place in a small town called Honey Springs. The main source of caffeine and gossip is the Been Hive Coffee Shop which is run by ex-lawyer Roxy Bloom. Since running a coffee shop that everyone heads to in town it’s no wonder Roxy is up to date on all the latest gossip and the police would like her help in hearing of anything that might come around the town. This small town is not just full of gossip but also people who have been in an out of Roxy’s life. Her Aunt and Mom live in the town, she married her high school sweetheart, and her Ex-Husband, and his new wife also live in town. What is nice is that each character has a purpose and isn’t there to just fill space. It’s nice to have a book that uses every person to tell the story and not just be there to be there.
Take a look at the book’s description below:
In the quaint town of Honey Springs, the Bean Hive Coffee Shop is the heart and soul of the community, and its vivacious owner, Roxy Bloom, is always ready to serve up a steaming cup of java with a side of gossip. But when a brewing storm of real estate treachery ends with the cold-blooded murder of a local agent, Roxy finds herself in the thick of a frothy whodunit that’s anything but decaffeinated.
The victim, a hotshot real estate agent, had been spearheading a massive development project that went sour after an intrepid environmentalist unearthed a reason for the town to put the kibosh on the plan. Now, with the town’s picturesque charm drawing tourists in droves, Roxy must grind through a list of suspects as long as a coffee bean’s journey from farm to cup.
From double-shot deceptions to espresso intrigues, Roxy’s quest to unmask the Cappuccino Criminal will plunge her deep into the dark heart of Honey Springs’ seedy underbelly. As she sifts through a muddy mixture of secrets, lies, and steamed milk, Roxy will have to rely on her wit, intuition, and the help of her loyal friends to solve the mystery before it boils over and scalds them all.
In this steamy, cozy mystery with a frothy blend of suspense and humor, the stakes have never been higher—or the coffee stronger. It’s time for Roxy Bloom to pull the perfect shot and catch the Cappuccino Criminal before their next bitter brew leaves someone else in the grinder. So, curl up with a cup of your favorite beverage, and join Roxy in this un-put-downable tale of murder, mystery, and macchiatos.
‘Cappuccino Killer’ is a nice cozy mystery that gets five stars from me. The read is perfect for the summer months and it’s something perfect to pick up to read in the backyard or wherever you want to relax. So, make sure your bags are packed to visit Honey Springs.
