Welcome to Book Raid, where I will be interrogating authors who will be releasing their debut or their latest books this year. This is a way to highlight debut or latest books that you may want to read after reading this recorded interrogation of what to expect of the book.

The first raided book is a debut book from Miss Shelly Coriell, Welcome Caller, This is Chloe. Below is the recorded interrogation I had with Miss Shelley Coriell.

Miss Shelley Coriell, you have been suspected of hiding some details of the book, Welcome Caller, This Is Chloe, from the citizens. If you are not guilty of the suspicions, then I will interrogate you with some questions about the book.

How different is Welcome Caller, This Is Chloe from other books out there?

Check out the cover. Not your normal YA cover, huh? But Welcome Caller, This is Chloe is not your normal YA novel. No vamps, weres, dead people, or hunky angels. Just a girl with a big heart. And…um…a big mouth. It lands her a radio call in show but also a heap of trouble.

How much drama, humor, or romance do we have to expect in Welcome Caller, This Is Chloe?

Drama up the wazoo because Chloe is a drama queen. Funny moments with a grandmother who lives in a tuna can (it makes sense when you read the book). A dash of kissy-kissy.

What did you like writing the most: the beginning, the middle, or the ending?

Middle.

What was your favorite chapter or part to write?

Every scene when Chloe was on the radio!

Give us a short quote from Welcome Caller, This Is Chloe.

I raised Duncan’s hands to my lips. First I kissed one palm then the other. “When you feel lonely, I’ll be there.”

Thank you for your time Miss Shelley! It is advised that you are free of all the suspicion of hiding Welcome Caller, This Is Chloe from the citizens!

ABOUT THE BOOK

PUBLISHER. Amulet Books

SYNOPSIS. Chloe Camden has a big heart and an even bigger collection of vintage shoes. Life is good…until her best friend turns the entire school against her and her counselor axes her junior independent study project. Forced to take on a meaningful project in order to pass her Junior year, Chloe joins her school’s struggling radio station, where the other students don’t always appreciate her unique style. Ostracized by her former BFs and struggling with her beloved Grams’s mental deterioration, lonely Chloe ends up hosting a call-in show that gets the station much-needed publicity and, in the end, trouble. She also befriends radio techie and loner Duncan Moore, a quiet soul with a romantic heart. On and off the air, Chloe tackles love, loneliness, and painful life lessons as she gives her big heart to the radio station and the misfits who call it home.
