Story: Bones and All starts when Maren (Russell) gives up her secret, leading to her father (Holland) leaving her to understand her secret herself. Maren likes to eat human flesh, known as an Eater. She must keep herself secret or face the terrifying truth about what society would do to her.

On her journey, Maren meets Sully (Rylance) an older eater that has seen much more of the world. He offers to teach her his ways, but Maren looks for more people, as she runs into Lee (Chalamet). The pair continues to travel the country, figuring out how to use their needs as Maren contemplates her own existence.

Verdict on Bones and All

Bones and All is a horror romance that follows a young woman learning to adapt to life on the run. She is used to having support for her carnivorous ways but not they are becoming more difficult to deal with. It follows her on a journey to meet others that have the same desire for human flesh.

This movie takes the cannibal subgenre of horror in a much calmer direction. It introduces characters that have been struggling to stop their desires but find different ways to live with them. This calm approach helps give us a more character approach on the journey. It helps show us how people could be doing this without anyone knowing.

We do get three brilliant performances, with Taylor Russell and Timothee Chalamet on their journey. Mark Rylance brings a truly creepy character, one we don’t see much but knowing he lingers in the movie makes us want to see him return.

Final Thoughts Bones and All is a creepy simmering movie.
