Colorado, say hello to Payette Brewing Co.!
This Boise, Idaho based brewery has expanded its distribution area and partnered with Colorado Craft Distributors to bring its award-winning beers to liquor stores throughout most of the state, including Fort Collins, Colorado Springs, Denver and Aspen.
Until recently I could count on one hand the number of beers I’d had from Idaho, as it seems most Idaho breweries don’t distribute here. So the addition of Payette Brewing is welcome and exciting!
As of now you can find four of their year-round offerings: North Fork Lager, Recoil India Pale Ale, Rodeo Citra Pale Ale, and Aura Guava & Hibiscus Sour Ale. I recently sampled all four of these new arrivals; here’s a quick rundown:
Aura Guava & Hibiscus Sour: Sour, but it won’t make you pucker. This is a good “starter sour” for those just getting into sours, or for those who like a sour that’s a bit more on the mild side. 4% ABV
North Fork Lager: North Fork is everything a lager should be: crisp and clean, yet with an underlying hint of something slightly fruity, which I enjoyed. I don’t drink many lagers, but because of how flavorful this one is I could definitely see myself adding it into my usual rotation. 4.4% ABV
Recoil IPA: Brewed with Calypso, Citra, Eureka and Mosaic hops, this hoppy, resinous West Coast style IPA does not disappoint. 6.5% ABV
Roedo Citra Pale Ale: This single-hopped (Citra) pale ale isn’t trying to overdo the hops as some pales can; it’s just a fine example of a classic pale ale. 4% ABV
You may have noticed Payette’s beers are canned—not bottled—making them easy to transport on a hike, on your bike, and all your other outdoor adventures. I think this brewery is going to fit in perfectly here in Colorado! And these year-round beers (save for the Recoil) are a very sessionable bunch, which is conducive to having a fun and safe time on all your journeys, outdoor or otherwise. Look for these four Payette Brewing Co. beers in your local liquor stores, Colorado!
