The new MD-10 Flying Eye Hospital made a stop in the Bay Area recently and I was able to photograph it from the other side of Highway 101. This is the third iteration of ORBIS’s airborne hospital, this one based on a MD-10 airframe donated by Federal Express. FedEx will be providing the volunteer crews and maintenance services. Tarmac was shared with a P2V Neptune, wearing the colors of Patrol Squadron Two. First flown in 1945, the US Naval Reserve retired its last Neptunes in 1978.
