Taxied by this El Al aircraft while transiting thru Newark. There are currently 15 Dreamliners in the El Al fleet, with the first one entering service in August 2017.  Twelve are these lengthened 787-9 variants. Most of El Al’s aircraft are named for Israeli cities, with the names located near the nose of the plane beneath the cockpit windows, this one named after Ashdod (the sixth-largest city in Israel). As of January 2023, 63% of all 787 orders are for the 787-9, with 580 deliveries.
