I was finally able to get out and capture reverse operations at SFO, a weather-driven scenario where the airport traffic operates in a reverse direction due to changes in wind direction. Here is a British Airways 787 about to land on runway 19L. The wings of the Boeing 787 are quite flexible due to the use of carbon fiber materials and the high aspect ratio magnifies this effect (approx 10 ft of flex in normal flight). In flight this allows the wing to dampen load changes more effectively for a smoother ride. BA operates a fleet of 32 Dreamliners of which 18 are the -9 models. With a typical capacity of 280 passengers and a range of 7,635 nautical miles, the -9 is a stretched variant of the -8  base model of the 787 family and entered service in 2014. Almost 1,000 Dreamliners have been delivered of the 1,500 on order. Nikon D500 w/ Tamron 150-600mm.
