Bluebells at Hallerbos, Belgium

By Michelle Jr @abeeandtoe

Do you remember I went for a walk around Hallerbos in the winter? And that I had heard wonderful things about the bluebells and that I wanted to go back and see them?

Bois de Halle or Hallerbos is a huge forest, much of it was lost in WWI and the Nature and Forest Agency are still trying to buy back some of the land.

Not only is there a great selection of trees in the forest; oak, beech, ash, pine, larch and giant sequoia, there are also deer, fox, rabbit, squirrels, polecats and owls.

There were indeed quite right about the Bluebells, they are truly beautiful… the forest is so peaceful, with a grey/blue/purple haze covering the ground, like a carpet.  These are only going to be out for around another week I should think, so if you want to go and see them for yourself, you may want to get a wriggle on…
