Last Friday night at 285 Kent in Williamsburg was eventful to say the least. This was actually my first trip to the venue, and while it may appear like just another warehouse from the outside, the interior is filled with a colorful atmosphere, amazing graffiti and musical instruments set up along the small stage. Despite technical difficulties, Weeknight pulled through with a solid opening set followed by the band Solar Year. The crowd was instantly moved to dance once Empress Of emerged on stage, showcasing their new song “Michael Jordan”, which was a definite crowd pleaser. Finally, Blue Hawaii made their much anticipated appearance, truly rounding out this successful night of stellar music.
