Blood Red Shoes have shared new single ‘Morbid Fascination’ ahead of the release of their sixth album ‘Ghosts On Tape’ via Velveteen Records on 14 January, 2022. The album came together despite both members living on opposite sides of the Atlantic with Steven Ansell saying: ‘It’s been a loooong time since we both lived in the same city. I mean we actually wrote this album in LA at Laura’a place, then came to the UK to record it… And then everything went nuts’.

‘Morbid Fascination’ began on the street on the way to the rehearsal room with a simple melody sung into a voice memo on an iPhone. BRS fully formed it by adding Depeche Mode-style electronic beats, shuffling stop-start hooks and assertive lyrics – ‘I saw your face there through the crowd so I put my hood on and sat on down by table right next to you. I could barely breathe when you said my name, what I heard now I can’t undo’ – that capture its eerie drive and honest confessions: ‘I’m blind to the truth that hurts and I’m lost in my own denial’.
