Blogpost Update: A Day out at the Races… and I Saw @OfficialSteps!

By Cassiefairy @Cassiefairy

Just got back from one of the best weekends ever – I went to the races at Newmarket and had a fantastic day despite on/off thunder-and-lightening storms! I loved looking at the horses in the paddock before they raced, chosing my favorite and putting on the smallest of bets… and twice it paid off – I picked one winner and one 4th place and managed to win exactly what I had spent and was up by 2 pounds!! So I went to the winner’s enclosure to celebrate with ‘my’ winning horse and collected my winnings with a big smile on my face. And that was a massive smile that stayed put throughout the Steps concert that started immediately after the last horse-race.

It was lovely sunny weather when Steps came on stage however, soon after, the heavens opened and the lightening recommenced with a thunderstorm so heavy that it felt like I was standing fully-clothed in a power shower! But did I care? Did I heck – STEPS were on stage! At the start of the concert I was fairly calm & looking forward to a bit of mild cheesy-pop entertainment, but after a few bars of the first song I realised that I am the biggest Steps fan ever! I have probably not heard any of these songs for at least 10 years, but there I was belting out every word (how do I even know the lyrics to Last Thing on My Mind??) AND dancing along to every move (again, muscle memory took over and I was doing every single step to Better Best Forgotten). I had obviously underestimated the influence that Steps’d had on my teenage self as I effortlessly danced and sang along to every track – seriously, if they had needed a replacement for one member of Steps that night, I could have easily hopped on stage and taken over!

This video above shows my favorite part of the show (this YouTube was from their 2012 Arena Tour) which was a kinda dancing-game video background – if Steps haven’t already released a Steps dancing game, they should - I would buy it right now! As the show went on, the rain soon stopped and a beautiful double rainbow appeared in the sky - I bet Steps would like that as a visual effect at all of their concerts! All in all, a fab day out – so thanks again to my brother-in-law for the tickets and thanks to Steps for continuing to be so awesomely cheesy!
