The holiday season isn’t just for humans, you know? Dogs need some love, too! As you probably saw from Blogmas Day 1, my budget is tight, so presents are going to be 90% homemade this year. I have a lot of doggies in my life that deserve all the presents in the world. Obviously, I can’t spend all my money on those four-legged fur balls. Instead, I am making homemade dog treats this season.
Homemade dog treats make great gifts for every dog you love! You can even package some up and donate them to your local shelter. They are SO SO easy to make. I can almost guarantee you have all the ingredients in your pantry, too. Four ingredients. That’s all you need, y’all. Don’t believe me? Give it a try and I promise you won’t be sorry. Let’s get to the recipe so your pups can start enjoying their homemade treats.

Ingredients
2 cups of All Purpose Flour (or whole wheat flour if that is what you have on hand)
1 1/2 tsp of Baking Powder
1/3 cup of Peanut Butter
1 1/4 cups of hot water
Grab a mixing bowl, whisk, cookie sheet, parchment paper, and set your oven to bake at 375 degrees F. While the oven heats, mix your dry ingredients first. Once mixed, add the hot water and peanut butter. If your mixture feels too wet, add more flour. Too dry? Add more water. *Water should be hot, not boiling.
You will smell the peanut butter when they are ready. I left mine in for an extra three to five minutes just to be sure. They turned out perfect, light golden brown, and the dogs LOVED them. Dexter and Koa loved them a little too much, actually. I had to hide them on the top shelf haha. *See the photo to the left for proof*
When the cookies were cooled and ready for packaging, I put them in an adorable box and they were ready to gift to some of my favorite pups! This recipe is so simple, easy, and safe for your dogs. Get creative with them if you’d like! I sandwiched two of them with peanut butter in between as a special surprise for my pups. Trust me, they will love them.
Happy Baking!
xoxo,
Kristin
