Bleached Blonde to Pastel Pink in Under 10 Minutes

DISCLAIMER: I must stress that this tutorial only takes less than 10 minutes if you have already recently bleached your hair to an appropriate level of blonde. And this choice of dye only lasts a good 3-5 washes before completely fading out.

As you may have noticed, I've been sporting the pastel pink hair for a good 9-10 months now, and it's not very easy to maintain. Normally I have to do a complete full-head dye every 2 weeks, and then bleach and dye my roots every 4 or 5. So, as I am incredibly lazy, I've been looking for a more long term fix.

I have since found an excellent little dye/conditioner bundle by L'Oreal, the Feria Pastel Toning Conditioner. RRP of around £4-£5 ish, it's the perfect little fix for those who are topping up their colour, or for those wanting to test out something bright, without committing to a semi-permanent dye.

I first used this when I was testing the pink haired look back in August. This type of product is perfect for just that, as it fades quickly, and washes out fully in 3-5 washes. More recently though, I turned to this product as a top up, and still dye my hair properly every 4 weeks or so.

So, without further adieu, here's how to get pastel pink hair in under 10 minutes!

1. The conditioner/dye product is applied to wet hair, so make sure your hair is washed and clean. I tend not to use any conditioner when I do this, as the dye is a conditioning product, so I find two conditions get my hair too greasy, however, it's completely up to you.

2. The amount of dye you use, is again, completely up to you. I tend to use a full bottle each time, as I am only using this once a month. However, if you're looking for a softer pastel colour, that you can top up with every wash, or your hair is already a very white blonde, use less.

3. To apply the conditioner, make sure your hair is not dripping wet, towel dry a little first. Now, depending on when you last bleached your hair, the next step will be different.

4. If your hair has been bleached less than 2 weeks ago, apply only to the lengths to begin with. Massage throughout the hair, and comb through to spread it evenly and get rid of any excess. Let this develop for 5 minutes. Then, apply the toner to the roots, again, massaging and combing through. Finally, leave your hair for another 1-3 minutes, or until it reaches your desired tone.

If your hair has been bleached over 2 weeks ago, apply starting from the lengths, and working towards the roots. Massage and comb through the same as before. Then, let the colour develop for 15 minutes.

5. Rinse thoroughly and voila, pastel hair in under 10 minutes!

Finally, I must point out, that the colour on my hair will not look the same as if I'd used the product from blonde.

If you're not feeling the pink, L'Oreal Paris also do variations of the Feria Conditioning Toner in Lilac and Peach.

Let me know what you think, and do let me know if you try it out! I'd love to see the results.
