From Panhead Custom Ales in Wellington, New Zealand comes their "Blacktop Oat Stout". The beer pours an opaque black with a brown head. The aroma consists of roasted malts, anise, chocolate, ash and sweetness. The flavour is of anise, roasted malts, smoke, ash, earth, mild chocolate, bitterness and some burnt coffee. The alcohol content comes in at 5.5%. If you enjoy a beer that is high and the roast you will really like this one. I know that I did.
Commercial Description: As self-confessed bogans we have a natural attraction to black, preferably matte, so Blacktop Oatmeal is close to our hearts. The key to creating a silky death metal monster like this is the caramelised Golden Naked Oats we've built it around. Sophisticates will detect the chocolate and coffee notes of creamy tiramisu. The rest of us will note that it matches our jeans.
