Bishop Noel Jones mother, Marjorie Jones has passed.
Bishop Noel Jones sister, and singer, Grace Jones kept a bedside vigil with her mother in Los Angeles after Marjorie had a massive stroke in mid-September, according to reports.
Despite doctors’ best efforts, including reviving Marjorie from a coma, she passed away peacefully at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, according to the NY Daily News.
Marjorie Jones served as overseer and evangelist at the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ in Syracuse. Her late husband, Bishop Robert Winston Jones, founded the church in 1956, more than a decade years after he moved to the U.S. from Jamaica.
“He was a lover of people,” Marjorie previously said of her husband in 2008, according to Syracuse.com. “He felt like a lot of people would not come into the church and so the best way to draw them was to bring the church to them.”
Marjorie and Robert are survived by eight children and over a dozen grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their son, megachurch pastor, Bishop Noel Jones, leads the City of Refuge Church in Los Angeles, California.
