This evening at Cameo Gallery, Brooklyn-based Bird Courage will be celebrating the release of their latest effort, Māia Manu. We featured these guys a while back for their single “Mayflower”, but these three have since recorded an entire collection of songs with the assist of a recent Kickstarter project. You may recognize their sounds if you ever find yourself taking the G train, as one or all of them can regularly be found playing at the Metropolitan stop, where they help to ease the gloom of the daily commute.
From the album opener, “Stone”, to the conclusion, “Curious”, and “Home” tucked in the middle, Bird Courage offer up their interpretation of stripped back folk paired perfectly with the peculiar pull of storytelling in the vocals. So, stop whatever you’re doing and be sure to check out Bird Courage’s album and album launch tonight, along with additional performances from Gondola and Wilder Maker.
