Participants can collect points redeemable for rewards such as a dinner with their favorite player or a tour of the stadium.

The crypto exchange Binance has released a new version of its fan token platform, which aims to facilitate the engagement of sports teams with their supporters by offering various rewards to tokenholders.

In an announcement sent to Cointelegraph, the crypto exchange said that its fan club program will now let fans collect points that they can trade for rewards like tickets to games, meet-and-greets with their favorite players, video clips from their favorite players, and invitations to private dinners with the athletes.

By participating in fan token activities, such as voting in polls or doing other tasks, participants can collect points. A greater level of involvement will provide fans access to greater rewards.

Lisa He, Binance’s head of NFT and fan tokens, said that fan tokens represent the future of fan engagement. The executive noted that the initiative may bring fans closer to their favorite clubs through dinners with their favorite players and even tours of the stadium.

He explained that: “Fan tokens allow sports fans to feel more connected to their favorite sports teams by allowing them to have access to exclusive offers and have a voice in team decisions for the club.“

He also said that their team thinks that fan tokens are the “future of fan engagement, where clubs and their fans can feel closer to each other and have a two way relationship.“

Binance says that the platform has been very successful and that it has helped clubs like Santos FC, Porto, and SS Lazio connect with thousands of fans who use the platform.

Binance has tried over and over to connect sports to the Web3 space. The crypto exchange teamed up with famous soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo on June 23, 2022, to help him connect with his fans through nonfungible tokens (NFTs). People who own NFTs will have special chances to interact with the soccer star.

Binance got into NFT ticketing on July 28 after the UEFA Champions League fiasco caused by counterfeit tickets. The crypto exchange teamed with SS Lazio to utilize NFT tickets for the club’s Stadio Olimpico home games.
