According to the information received, hundreds of migrant workers have gathered near Mumbai’s Bandra railway station. They are demanding a return to their home area during the lockdown.
While Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended the lockdown in the country till May 3 to deal against the corona virus today, a large crowd of migrant laborers gathered at Mumbai’s Bandra railway station.
All these laborers reached the station to go home. The workers hoped the lockdown would end. The police used lathicharge to remove them.
Rumor of running the train was rumored
In Mumbai too, the rumor started on the lines of Delhi itself. Rumors of running of trains arose here today and people flocked on the streets without thinking.
In Delhi too, workers were given wrong information about getting buses at Anand Vihar bus terminal. A large group of migrant laborers gathered in Bandra seeking permission to return to their native states.
They later dispersed after the intervention of police and local leaders and asked them to evacuate.
Home Minister Called CM Uddhav Thackeray
In the mean-while, Home Minister Amit Shah has called Maharashtra CM and discussed the entire issue with him. He has assured that center will assist and provide all the support required currently by the Maharashtra Government.
CM Thackeray will talk to media at 8 pm
Politics has also started on this matter. While BJP leader Sambit Patra called it the failure of the Maharashtra government, Aditya Thackeray blamed it at the Center. Now tonight at 8 pm, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will speak to the press.
State government will arrange food
Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said that the government of Maharashtra will now provide food for these workers. He said that someone had spread the rumor on social media. In this case 37 people have been arrested and 197 cases have been registered.
