1. I started with reading the Eric Carle book “The Artist Who Painted a Blue Horse”. It encourages students to use colors that they like, not necessarily ones they think are appropriate.
2. Students traced their drawing with a chisel tip black marker. The thick black lines really make a difference.
3. Crayons were used to ONLY make decorations: lines, patterns, etc. No solid coloring.
4. The art was finished with liquid watercolor paint.
