We’ve had quite a few technical difficulties on this little ole blog! LVP was taken offline due to an apparently massive influx of spam comments, and my sweet fiancé was a big help in getting it up and running again. My apologies if you had trouble accessing the site!
While this summer has been mainly relaxing, it’s also leading up to a lot of important life events. The wedding has obviously involved a lot of planning, and we’ve just started making concrete plans for our honeymoon. But the actual nuptials aside, there are a lot of things in life that just feel…big. I’m studying for my Social Work licensing exam while applying for and interviewing for jobs. Brien and I are trying to figure out our own five year plan… wait, make that 6 month plan! We’re coming together as a financial unit, and that involves a lot of planning, too. Don’t get me wrong: it’s a really exciting time! But sometimes it’s good to just be able to take a step back and savor this part, because I know I’ll miss them when them when they’re gone.
Last week, some of my family and friends came together for my (less traditional) bridal shower. Initially, I wasn’t sure I even wanted to have one because- self-disclaimer- I’m often uncomfortable when a lot of attention is focused on me. But rather than feel stifled, I felt loved. It was a really wonderful and warm evening, and I’m so grateful for those who came from near and far. Unfortunately I neglected to take a lot of photos, but hopefully someone else did!
The food was spectacular. We know a lot of very talented people, some of whom do private catering! Our friend Amy made these beautifully decadent- and so tasty!- cupcakes. Sunflowers are my favorite flower, and those cupcakes were stuffed with one of my all-time favorite ingredients: lemon curd! They were basically lemon-on-lemon-on-lemon, and I wanted to bathe in them. The chocolate cupcakes were layered with chocolate ganache and topped with chocolate mousse. I proceeded to devour the leftovers as soon as I got home, of course
On Saturday, my parents, Brien and I drove to Southampton to run some wedding-related errands. It was a beautiful day: not too hot, with a delicious breeze. Hope the weather is exactly the same six weeks from now!
I went for a hair + makeup trial at the salon I’m going to the morning of the wedding, and I felt so glamorous when I left. I’m pretty minimal with my routine ordinarily, and it was fun to feel a little more glitzy. My hair won’t look exactly like this, of course… I asked the stylist to take the real style down so Brien wouldn’t see it. I kind of wish I’d gone with this one, though!
After stopping for big bowls of pasta at our favorite Italian restaurant, we all drove out to the vineyard that’s supplying the wine. There was something about purchasing the beverages that made it all seem real… although it still seems like the day will never get here!
I hope you’re all having lovely summers. I’d love to hear what you’ve been up to! I’ll be back soon- tech willing- with a (non wedding-related) review
