Best Waterproof Fitness Trackers for Swimming

Posted on the 02 March 2020 by Charlene Farwell

If you're a hardcore swimmer, you know how competitive that sport is. You have to swim fast and make sure that every stroke counts. If not, then you'll be left behind. One way you can improve your swimming skills is to track your fitness. See how fast you're going. Check your heart rate.

Get an all-around measure of your skills. A smartphone is a good fitness tracker, but who wants to swim holding that thing? You won't get far, and we don't trust swimming with it even if it claims to be waterproof.

  • All all-rounder & advanced Choice: Garmin Forerunner 935
  • Best IOS Smartwatch: Apple Watch Series 5 (GPS, 44mm)
  • Android Smartwatch for Swimming: Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro
  • Editor Choice – Waterproof watch for Swimming: Garmin Forerunner 935
  • Budget Choice – Waterproof Fitness Tracker: MOOV Now Fitness Trackers

This is where smartwatches come in. A good companion to your smartphone, with some models working without one, a smartwatch can track your fitness, fits comfortably around your arm, and most are waterproof. If you're wanting to improve your technique, here are some good models to check out.

Budget Choice – Waterproof Fitness Tracker – $ – MOOV Now

As usual, we'll start with a watch for those on a budget. MOOV Now is the cheapest Waterproof Fitness Trackers for Swimming. it's a good way to track your fitness when you don't have the money for something more sophisticated. MOOV Now allows you to track your swimming, your running, and other forms of fitness.

The watch is quite lightweight and fits like a glove, which is always a plus. The last thing you want is something weighing you down while you try to swim some laps. It has a good battery life as well, allowing you to have up to 200 workouts, or possibly more.

Being a budget watch, there are some disadvantages. There is no screen on it, meaning that you have to see the results on your phone. Being a budget watch, it does make sense that the screen is sacrificed so that the product can be cheap, but if you really need that screen, check another watch. Also, being a cheaper watch, it can be a bit inaccurate. This is a bit of a problem, especially if you need to count your strokes and your fitness to a T.

However, if you're looking for a cheap watch, you've come to the right place. We recommend giving this watch a little try, at least.

Android Swimming Smartwatch – $ – Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro

Here's a more expensive model that may be worth it. This is a more advanced watch, and it recently had an upgrade to make it waterproof, making it an ideal purchase.

Like any good fitness watch, it's comfortable and good for swimming. Unlike the last model, there is a screen, and it's quite vibrant. If you need to have a screen on your watch, you've come to the right place.

When you swim, you can lock up the screen so it can be safe and so you won't accidentally be messing around with the touch screen when you swim. You ever tried to touch your phone while it's raining? Not fun at all. So we're glad this feature is here.

It tracks many different pool stats, and one app that does the magic for you is the Speedo On. This app goes into all the nitty-gritty, giving you various stats on your swim statistics.

There are a few disadvantages to the swim watch. Because it's a Samsung, it does have some problems if you connect it to an iOS device. This does make sense, but many people tend to forget that Samsung and Apple are competitors.

IOS Swimming Smartwatch – $$$ – Apple Watch Series 5 (GPS, 44mm)

If you have an iOS, stick with an Apple Watch or something more universal, I think there is no need to introduce the Apple Watch here.

Old version,

Advanced dynamics Smartwatch for Swimming – Garmin Forerunner 935

This watch is one of the best for swimming, especially if you're an advanced swimmer. In fact, one of the disadvantages of the watch is that it doesn't cater enough to casual swimmers. However, if you're the best of the best, this watch is for you.

Let's talk about the swim features. You can track your pool swimming and any other water for that matter. You can download different sessions to try out or just create your own workout. It allows for manual input of your swim drills, which is nice if you want to track a little more.

If you ever wanted to know your SWOLF score, you can learn that from this watch as well. SWOLF, or swim golf, is calculated when you combine your strokes per length and the time. Just like golf, you want to get the lower score if you want to be efficient.

There is a feature known as Training Status, and in that, you can see how well you're doing. It can look at your past sessions and figure out whether or not you're pushing yourself or not pushing yourself hard enough.

Besides the price, one disadvantage is the lack of heart rate monitoring when you're swimming. You can get a heart rate monitor and pair it with this watch, however.

Overall, it's one of the best watches you can purchase. We say give it a try.

Professional smartwatch for swimming- $$$ – Garmin Fenix 3

This is one of the priciest watches money can buy, However, it's well worth the price if you have the money for it. It has the most vibrant screen out of all the options and some of the best battery life, lasting for weeks.

Its tracking stats are some of the most advanced out there, giving you all the details and even monitoring your heart rate. If you're a perfectionist when it comes to tracking your stats, this is money well spent.

Plus, it's so comfortable. When you're swimming, you'll feel like you're wearing nothing at all.

Also, the reviews. Few watches on Amazon get over 4 stars on average. However, this one has 4.5 stars. If you know Amazon and how picky the reviews can be, you know this is a miracle.

These are just a few out of the many watches available. If you're interested in getting a smartwatch, now is the right time.
