The New York Times says Clancy died at Johns Hopkins Hospital after a brief illness. Neither Clancy’s lawyer, J.W. Thompson Webb, nor his longtime publisher, Ivan Held, president of G. P. Putnam’s Sons, said they knew the precise cause of death.
According to Wikipedia, Clancy was a lifetime member of the NRA since 1978.
I’ve read several of Clancy’s novels and found them gripping and well-versed in the technicalities of military hardware and in the complexities of the equally-deadly political world.
How sad . . . .
