Find below detailed reviews of our top Hanoi hotel recommendations.
(3* Rating | Budget Boutique Hotel)
Located in the heart of the busy streets of Hanoi Old Quarter you will find the Hanoi Paradise Boutique Hotel! This little treasure stands tall amongst the colourful old streets that are typically flooded with loads of people and scooters.
Actually we thought this hotel was so perfect that we decided to make it our base whilst travelling out to Sapa and Halong Bay. We stayed at this awesome hotel three times and we had a chance to check out three different rooms, so we can recommend this place to you, with knowledge and recommendations to suit a room for every style and every need!
What you will LOVE about this hotel:
- The hotel is very affordable
- Buffet Breakfast is also included in the price
- The hotel is perfectly located right smack bang in the heart of all the action in the Old Quarter

__________
(4* Rating | Mid-Range Boutique Hotel)
After something a bit more classy and luxurious in comparison to the Paradise Hotel in Hanoi? The Essence Hanoi Hotel & Spa has beautiful rooms on offer, but of course it also comes at a higher price tag than the budget hotel we just looked at. Despite its higher price tag, this hotel is really popular due to the fact that it offers loads of value for its affordable price tag!
The hotel is located right in the middle of all the beautiful chaos of the Old Quarter in Hanoi. But this also means that some rooms might be a touch noisy, so either request a room facing away from the street, or a room on a higher level, or ensure that you take along some noise cancelling ear plugs.
What you will LOVE about this hotel:
- #1 Best Value of 600 hotels in Hanoi (as rated by TripAdvisor)
- Cheap spa and massage treatments available at the hotel
- Excellent location; walking distance to most attractions in the Old Quarter

__________________Best Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City 2018 Guide
Trying to find the best hotel in Saigon? Our personal favourite options for budget accommodation is Hotel L' Odeon (3* boutique hotel, cheap as chips, located in district 7); but if you prefer something more luxurious, but that still offers value for money, we love The Reverie Saigon Hotel (4* hotel, located in popular district 1).
Wondering what the best place to stay in Ho Chi Minh is? The most popular are to stay in Ho Chi Minh City is District 1. District 1 is right in the center of all the main tourist attractions. There are also plenty of nightlife options available as many restaurants to choose from. The best hotel in Ho Chi Minh district 1 is Caravelle Saigon.
~ Alagon Hotel & Spa
This hotel is situated in a pretty good location in district 1, close to Ben Thanh market. It gives you a nice central point to explore most of the hot spots of Ho Chi Minh City. The price also includes a buffet breakfast! Because we pride ourselves in being honest with you all, this was probably our least favourite accommodation whilst on holiday in Vietnam. Whilst the room looked pretty, (we got the cheapest room), the bathroom was pretty tiny. The bed was pretty hard. The soundproof from the hallway pretty much non-existent. We found the staff to be a bit 'cold'. It is a pretty 'cheap' stay in the city though and as it is rated as 3 stars, it is what it is and served us for the purpose of the stay. So I'll leave the choice up to you.
Location: Alagon Hotel & Spa is located at 289-291 Ly Tu Trong Street, Ben Thanh Ward, District 1 in Ho Chi Minh City,
Star Rating: 3 Stars
Occupancy: Rooms to suit 2-3 people.

________________Sapa Accommodation
1. For a Sensational Setting: Topas Ecolodge
The setting and views from Topas Ecolodge will impress even the hardest of hearts! This place is built in an incredible manner! It instantly made us think about 'Maldives' or 'Bora Bora' but set in between mountains and rice paddies instead of water! The rooms are designed in an 'eco' focused manner, so whilst they are luxurious they fit in well with the feel of Sapa in their elegant simplicity. The view from your balcony .... you truly need to see it to believe it! Due to the location, the rooms are a lot more pricey than what you would expect to pay whilst in Vietnam, so it is definitely a bit of splurge.
There are some downsides to this resort; one of which was the slightly overpriced food - which we did not really enjoy! And whilst they run free shuttle buses, they do not run them at night time. We thought we could hop over to Sapa for our meals, however it ended up being too much of a hassle and pretty costly to order a taxi. We also thought that the staff could have been friendlier; whilst they treated us pleasantly, it just felt a bit 'cold'. So if you choose to splurge and stay here, it will be because of those sensational views! And they truly are incredible!
Location: Topas Ecolodge is set about 18 km from the center of Sapa Town in Lao Chai Ta Van. They offer free shuttle buses to Sapa, the trip will probably take you around 30 min as it is mostly on a dirt road.
Star Rating: 4 Stars
Occupancy: Bungalows to suit 2-3 people, baby cots are available for hire as well.

2. Sapa Eden Hotel
This little hotel might be budget, but we had a very enjoyable stay here! The staff are incredibly friendly! Due to its low prices we were able to book out one of their best rooms which was really lovely and big. We had an awesome view from our windows. The bathroom was a bit dated but no big issue at all. Awesome location for Sapa hikes with the Minority ladies or to set off exploring the region by scooter yourself. Very affordable! Recommended from us!
Location: This hotel is conveniently located at Sapa City Center. From here you can organise hikes through the rice paddies and through the minority villages. It is also in a great position for a walk to a multitude of lunch and dinner options.
Star Rating: 2.5 Stars
Occupancy: Rooms to suit 2-5 people

________________Ha Long Bay Cruise
~ Luxurious Cruise Boat: Indochina Sails
By far the best way to experience Ha Long Bay is by boat! Not only is it the best way to see the spectacular scenery, but it is also an incredibly relaxing way of going about it!! We splurged a bit and booked 2 nights with one of the most highly recommended cruise companies. Includes cooking classes, food prep, tours of floating villages, bat caves, swimming, kayaking, bamboo boats, oyster farms, hiking, fish farms. Breathtaking views and super helpful friendly staff. We truly had a very magical time here and hope that one day we can return for another visit!

__________________Hoi An Accommodation
~ Walking distance from Ancient Town: River Suites Hoi An
River Suites Hoi An is a new building, which means that all room furnishing are in excellent condition! The hotel has been designed with a very modern feel together with touches of 'Hoi An'. The hotel itself is truly ideally situated within a very short walk to the Old Town. Buffet breakfast is also included in the price of your room. We had a beautiful room with an incredible bath! Our view itself was a bit average, however we truly didn't spend much time in the room itself so it didn't bother us one bit! If you love a clean modern feel to your room, then this is it! We are sure you will enjoy your stay here!
Location: River Suites Hoi An, located in Cam Pho, Hoi An, is a popular choice for travelers. The excitement of the old town is only 200metres away.
